After dying, I met the One-Above-All and received a second chance at life. Transmigrated into an eternal being, I now watch history unfold with my own eyes. Join me on a slow-paced journey through time as I witness epic moments and ancient secrets while carefully avoiding any changes to fate.

Author's Thoughts:

This story is about a human who lost his sense of humanity and is learning what it means to be truly alive again.

Expect slow development and a touch of melancholy as the main character, a bit emo at first, grows over time.

Note: This is not a harem. Although it features some elements inspired by the MCU, it is primarily an eternal adventure through history.

All characters belong to their original owners, and this work is shared under fair use.

Chapter 1: Prologue

On a November evening, I was walking down the street near my home. The cold air is making my nose numb, and I tried to rub it to decrease the numbness of it. It was getting dark, the sky had an orange tint, and cars drove by as people were getting home from work.

Not me though.

I just watched the latest Marvel Movie, Eternals.

It was a disappointing movie to say the least, the movie had good potential, but it was executed so poorly. It should’ve been a miniseries in my opinion. When I watched it, it was frustrating to see the characters that have an interesting event that happened to him or her, but it wasn’t explored by the filmmakers, even though it should’ve been explored, to make the watchers care more about the characters.

Take Phastos for example, it would be interesting to see his believe in humanity slowly diminishing because of his technologies used the wrong way and not just seeing him cry after the bomb dropped, or seeing Sprite actually craving for adult activities and slowly falling in love, not just Kingo saying that she fell in love with Ikaris all of a sudden.

I sighed at the thought of it. I will probably never going to see it.

Suddenly, I can feel a vibration from my pocket. It’s my phone ringing.

I took out the phone, as I saw that it was my mom calling me, and I picked it up.

“Hello? Mom?” I answered the call.

“Hello honey, where are you?” she asked me.

“I’m almost at home mom.” I answered her question. “Do you need me to buy anything?”

“Yeah, can you buy me some milk on the way?”

“Sure thing mo-” before I could answer her question, a sudden jolt of pain appeared in my chest, and I clutched the area of my heart instantly, desperately trying to ease the pain, but it wasn’t working.

My phone fell out of my grasp and onto the ground, and I fell to the ground too, I could tell that my mom was panicking behind the phone as she could probably hear me gasping for air, trying to numb the pain in my chest.

I continued to hold my chest tightly to stop the pain, but it was no use. I looked around, no one was there, and at that moment I knew that I would die. I am accepting it at this point, my life was boring anyway, the only thing I’m worried about is my mom’s reaction to my death, it would hurt her for sure, but I can’t do anything, as I’m literally dying right now.

“It’s painful, isn’t it?” someone suddenly stated, I looked around, and saw no one. “Don’t worry though, it will all be over soon.”

“Who-” I tried to form a word to ask the voice, but the voice just repeated:

“It will all be over soon.”

My vision started to darken as the pain in my chest kept increasing, and now, I can see an outline of a man. The man had no body except black, and it was staring at me intently as I was dying.

Then, as I feel my soul disappear from my body, I feel nothing. Nothing at all. No pain, only infinite nothingness.

But soon, I could see again, and I looked around, and again, I only saw nothingness, my vision was covered with the color black.

“See? That wasn’t so bad…” someone suddenly spoke, startling me.

“Wha-?” I looked around frantically trying to see the person who was talking, and there he was, the same man who looked at me while I was dying on the ground. “Who are you?!”

“Me? I'm nobody.” He said, then, his ‘face’ suddenly cracked a smile, it just looked like a conveniently placed golden line though, as the ‘mouth’ was shining brightly, unlike the surroundings, which is entirely back.

I narrowed my eyes as he said that. “Then how come you are here? I’m dead right?”

“You are.” The man answered with a nod, his face still showing that golden smile.

“Then where is this?” I asked.

“You are in my domain.”

“What domain?”

“Where I live, I guess.” He answered, and suddenly, the entire dimension turned to a tropical island, and now I was standing in front of a fireplace. I was surprised to say the least, this is real magic shit! And then I looked back at the man, and now he looked like a stranded man who hasn’t bathed in weeks.

“Then… why am I here?” I asked the man, he’s definitely not a ‘nobody’.

“I chose you for something.” He stated.

“Me? Chosen?”

“Yes.”

“For what?” I asked, I am so confused right now.

“I want to see if an unknown variable can change something drastically.” He continued.

“Change? Unknown variable? What is happening right now?!” I questioned rather loudly.

“To simply put-” He then stood up, and suddenly, his body glowed bright, showing a golden color all over his body. “You will be reborn.”

“Re-Reborn?” I asked nervously. “Like reincarnated?”

“More like transmigrated.” He spoke. “To the body of an Eternal.”

“Wait what?” I am so confused right now. “Eternal? As in the movie I just watched?”

“Yes.” He simply answered, making me freaked out. “That eternal.”

“Who are you again?” I asked, or rather demanded.

The man just smiled. “You can call me whatever you want.”

“That doesn’t answer the question.” I stated.

The man chuckled. “I am god in that world I guess.”

“Wait… one above all?!” I exclaimed as I figured out his identity.

“Well, well, even though you didn’t read the comics, you still know a bit about me.” The man chuckled. And I freaked out as he knew that I didn’t read comics, which meant that he knew all about me. “You don’t have to worry about the comics though, you will be in the movie version.”

“T-That’s good I guess…” I mumbled. “But… Why me?”

The man shrugged. “No reason.”

“What?”

“I just picked randomly.” He continued. “So don’t get your hopes up like you are the chosen one or something.”

“But you said you chose me?”

“Randomly.” He pointed out. “Right, it’s time to go I guess, it’ll be a long time till we meet again, so if you want to ask something, ask now.”

“Oh…” I simply said. “What about my mom?”

The man smiled. “She’ll be fine, you don’t have to worry about her.”

“Can I know what happened to her?”

“I’d rather not tell you.” He spoke. “You need to get rid of your attachment to your previous life.”

“But… she’s my mom.”

“Like I said, she’ll be fine.” He said rather sternly now. “You don’t have to worry about her, she’ll live a good life.”

“I hope so…” I mumbled. “Who will I be reborn into? Gilgamesh? Kingo?”

“Oh, you will be an original Eternal that I made up.” He said, making me surprised. “Your name will be Pluto.”

“Powers?”

The man smiled rather strangely. “You’ll see.”

I sighed at this. “So, this is it huh… from a human to a synthetic being…”

“Is it so bad though? You will still look like a human.” the man questioned.

“Well, I won’t age… I don’t know how I feel about that.”

“I don’t age too.” He pointed out. “It has its ups and downs, but you’ll manage.”

I stared at the man intently for a second. “What exactly do you want me to do?”

“Hmmm….” The man thought for a second, making me look at him weirdly. “For now, just watch.”

“Watch?”

“Yes, blend in with the rest of the eternals.” He spoke. “I will give you a task once I feel like it.”

“Once you feel like it?” I scoffed. “What are you trying to do here man?”

“Think of yourself as a… bug that will activate once it is the right time.”

“So I’m an insect?”

“In my eyes, all of you are insects.” He sharply stated, which made me gulp.

“Can I refuse this?” I asked the man.

The man stared at me for a second before answering it. “You can, but you’ll regret it.”

“But I’ll just be a pawn in your games.” I pointed out.

He chuckled. “Is that how you view it?” he said. “You’re not a pawn, you’re an experiment.”

“What’s the difference?”

“The difference is that you can act freely according to the constraint of the experiment, while being a pawn means that I will control every single aspect of your life.”

“What are the ‘constraints’ then?”

“You will be an eternal, so at least act like it.”

“So, am I supposed to agree with the Celestial? Or rebel with Sersi?”

The man shrugged. “It’s up to you, you have a long time to think about it, 7000 years is a long time for you at least.”

I sighed. “You’re not making this easier, I’m still confused on what I’m supposed to do…”

“I understand what you are thinking.” The man said. “But you must follow your instinct once you’ve been reborn, you need to forget all your previous attachments. Your family before, your name, your age, your friends, everything, and start anew.”

“So I need to… live?”

“If that’s what you want to call it, then that’s fine, you need to live.”

“Well… okay…” I mumbled. “But I’m still doubtful about this…”

The man rolled his eyes at my words. “What are you worried about? That you will have your original appearance?”

“I mean… I’m ugly before…” I shrugged as I spoke the truth.

“Beauty is relative.” He stated.

“But most people’s perception of beauty is mostly the same.” I countered.

“That’s true.” The man continued. “Don’t worry, you’ll be reborn in a different body.”

“Then I’m in.” I excitedly said. “As long as I have free will.”

“Technically you’re an Eternal, you have limited free will.”

“But I can work on getting free will.” I stated. “Right?”

The man just hummed. “Fine, I’ll give you something so you can be free from my servants' control.”

“Servants?” I questioned.

“Oh right, you don’t read many comics.” He spoke. “The celestials are my servants.”

“Oh…” I simply said. “That’s… not surprising at all.”

“It’s part of your mission really.” He said. “To see how they work.”

“But… you’re god… you know everything?”

“True… but it’s more fun to command people to do it right?” he said while smiling, making me groan.

“I’m seriously confused right now to be honest, are you a good entity? Or are you a bad entity?”

He finally laughed at my question. “Soon you will learn that morality is a relatively young one.” He stated. “So, ready?”

“Fine…” I sighed.

The man smiled. “Excellent.” The man then floated in front of me and spoke. “Then may we meet again, Pluto.”

The man then snapped his finger, and suddenly, the world turned black, and it looked like I passed out.

And then I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. But nothing. I didn’t wake up whatsoever, I felt only darkness around me.

I sighed internally at this. It looks like the man fooled me.

But then, suddenly, I saw a tall and skinny man in front of me. He has a pale white skin, hair as black as the night, Deep violet eyes, and his stares creeped me out a bit, it’s as if he’s looking into my very soul.

“Who are you?” I asked nervously.

The man then kept staring at me, which is really creepy, it makes my body shiver for some reason. The man was silent, but then he raised his hand, making me grow alert.

The man then pointed at me, making me confused, then, he pointed at himself, signaling something.

“You… are me?” I stated.

The man was silent once again, but then he walked closer to me, which made me freaked out, I stepped back a bit, but he kept walking. As he stood right in front of me, he raised his arm once again, and this time, tapped my forehead.

When he tapped my forehead, I felt a jolt of electricity, and felt like something was transferred to my brain, and as I looked at his deep violet eyes one last time, I passed out once again.

I feel like my brain is exploding. A lot of information has transferred to my head in one go, it was probably the man’s ‘scattered’ memories. I know his name that now becomes my name, the false memories that the Celestial has given him, the muscle memories of fighting, language, basic courtesies, everything.

And of course, my powers.

Which is a problem.

It doesn’t look like it is an Eternal’s power. It is totally different from the rest of my ‘family’. I don’t even know how it works, I just know I can use it.

Where does the eternal’s powers come from anyway? Cosmic energy? But how do the eternals have different powers if it comes from the same energy?

We are synthetic beings, but how come my powers are like this? It’s strange and terrifying at the same time. I don’t know how to deal with this…

And there is also another problem. Aside from Ajak, I also know the original mission from the start, and I also have an additional mission from Arishem, but I thought One Above All gave me a chance to have free will? Or is this the chance?

Then, suddenly, I heard a voice from the surrounding area. “It is time.”

Chapter 2: Meet the Colleagues & Family

As I heard the voice, my eyes were forced open by my brain, and I saw myself in a different body, sitting in front of a red statue of a Celestial. I examined my hand and saw that my skin is as pale as it can be. Seriously, I feel like I don’t have any blood in my veins. Well, I don’t… but you get the point.

Then, I looked around, and saw that the others have walked to their position, and a brown woman, who I assumed is Ajak because her face is literally like Salma Hayek, is looking at me rather intently.

I stood up awkwardly as I saw that and walked to my ‘station’ to get my ‘Battle Armor’(?). Is it battle armor? I don’t remember.

As I get in my position, golden energy started to cover me up, and slowly but surely, my once simple clothes are changed into a black and silver ‘armor’, it had a some sort of long coat tails, and the armor had some runes as well, which I don’t know what it means. Still, it is pretty cool.

As the energy was done covering me up, I saw that the other people started to spread out and wander around the place. Seeing no reason to stay, I also wander around, probably introducing myself to the others, as I got from the memories that they don’t know each other except Ajak, who is the prime Eternal, so everybody knows her.

I walked to the nearest Eternal, which is a woman with blonde hair. She has a white armor, so I already guessed who she is, but introduced myself anyway.

“Settling in?” I said, making some small talk.

The woman then turned to look at me, and damn, her stares are intimidating, but I got a feeling my stares are creepy too, as she’s looking at me with a bit of shock and confusion.

“Yes.” She simply answered as she leaned in against a wall, looking towards the Earth.

“You look uncomfortable though.” I stated.

“It’s because you’re making me uncomfortable.” She pointed out, ouch.

I chuckled to get rid of the awkwardness, although I think it’s making it worse. “I get that a lot back in Olympia.” I answered.

The woman finally looked at me again and giggled, although seriously, even her giggles are intimidating. “What’s your name?” she asked me with a smile.

“Pluto.” I answered. “You?”

“You don’t know me?” she questioned; a bit surprised. Wow, I didn’t know that she’s a bit narcissistic.

I shrugged. “I do know you Thena, just formality is all.” I said as I put my hands to my back. Then, I smiled at her, I put my right hand in front of my heart and bowed to her. “It’s a pleasure to fight alongside the greatest warrior of Olympia.”

She just nodded her head and spoke. “It’s a pleasure to fight alongside you too.”

I bowed again. “Then if you’ll excuse me, I’ll have to introduce myself to the others.”

I turned around, and started to explore the Domo more, looking for an Eternal to introduce myself. And I found one, in the form of a young girl who never ages.

“Hello there.” I greeted the girl.

The girl looked at me, and instantly got creeped out by my stares. “Dude, you need to tone down the way you’re looking at people, it’s creeping me out.” She commented.

I sighed, oh yes, she’s going to be annoying. “I’ll try to fix it.” I simply said. “Pluto.”

“My name is Sprite.” She said, “Good to meet you I guess… although I’m not looking forward to your stares.”

My eyebrows twitched at the jab, oh yes, she’s going to be annoying alright. “Well, if you’ll excuse me.”

I turned around again as I don’t want to talk with the kid too much, and I looked for another eternal to introduce myself.

“You seemed eager.” Someone suddenly commented, I turned around and saw that it was Ajak, and I instantly frowned.

“Ajak.” I greeted her.

“Pluto.” She greeted me back. “We will soon be arriving at our first destination. You know Arishem’s mission for you right?”

I nodded to the woman. “I do.”

“Don’t fail him.”

I just hummed, I mean, the mission is tied to my powers, of course I need to do it, but I won’t go back to Arishem, that’s for sure.

I bowed lightly and walked to the edge of the Domo, where I could see a man and a woman staring at the earth. They were silent, and when I came in, it felt like it turned a bit awkward.

“Hello there.” I greeted the two, and they just nodded in recognition.

“I’m Sersi.” The woman introduced herself.

“Ikaris.” The man continued to introduce himself.

“The name’s Pluto.” I spoke. “Let’s get along, shall we?”

The two nodded awkwardly, possibly uncomfortable because of my stares, but oh well, don’t really care. “If you’ll excuse me.” I excused myself and walked off to another Eternal, this time it was a big black man, he is tinkering with the Domo’s tech. I've got to admit, the golden circles look cooler in person.

“Hello there.” I greeted, he turned at me and his face contorted, damn, is it that bad?

“You’re my teammate for the mission?” he questioned.

“You need to deal with it.” I shrugged.

He sighed at my comment. “Phastos.”

“Pluto.” I said, nodding at the man.

“Well, if you ever need anything, you can talk to me.” He said dismissively. “Like your creepy stares, I’m not sure I could fix it, but I can try.”

“No thanks.” I hurriedly said. “I can fix it myself.”

“I hope so.” He chuckled, making me chuckle as well.

“Well, see you around.” I said goodbye to the man, and walked to another big man, this time he looked Asian. And the dude’s really shredded.

“Hello.” I greeted.

He stared at me and chuckled. “I bet your stare made people uncomfortable.”

“Yes, I’ve been told a couple of times.” I answered. “Pluto.”

“Gilgamesh.” He spoke. “What’s your power?”

“You’re the first one to ask me that.” I pointed out. “Well, I can’t show you now… but you’ll see soon enough.”

“Playing mysterious huh?” he commented. “Fine, do whatever you want.”

I chuckled. “I’m serious.” I said. “I can’t show you yet.”

“Well, I’m looking forward to seeing your powers.” He said casually.

I just smiled and patted his shoulder. Then, I walked to a duo of man and woman, the woman used sign language as a form of communication, and the man was conversing with her with it.

“Hello.” I announced myself, not forgetting to also use sign language so the woman can understand me, although I think she can still hear me with the hearing vibration thing.

“Well, well, well, it seems someone finally has the courtesy of introducing themselves.” The man commented.

“Yes, the rest are a bit anti-social.” I started, making the woman chuckle a bit. “I’m Pluto.”

“I’m Druig.” The man said. “And this is Makkari.”

“Nice to meet you two.” I smiled at the two. “What are your powers?” I already know, but just for formalities.

“I can control minds.” Said Druig. Then, I turned to Makkari, who quickly ran around the Domo for about one millisecond, she’s fast as fuck boi.

“What about you?” The woman asked me using sign language.

“Me?” I chuckled. “It’s complicated, I need to actually fight first to show you.”

“Well, can’t wait to see it.” She further commented with a smile on her face.

“I’ll see you two around, I’ve got one more dude to introduce myself.” I excused myself, I walked back to the windows of the Domo, and finally met the final Eternal in this mission. The man has brown skin, and his jawline game is strong as fuck.

“It’s beautiful right?” I commented as the earth is nearing.

“It is.” The man answered. “It’s our home to protect.”

I shrugged. “Can’t be that hard right?”

“If you don’t count the Deviants that will probably want to eat us and the humans alive, then yeah, it can’t be that hard.” He said sarcastically.

I chuckled. “I’m sure we’ll manage.”

The man nodded. “Kingo by the way.” He stretched his hand for a handshake, and I accepted it.

“Pluto.” I introduced myself.

As soon as I said my name, Ajak suddenly called the rest of the team to the lab, and as she is the Prime Eternal, we rushed to her quickly, and finally, all the Eternals gathered in one place.

It was awkward to say the least, we don’t know each other, or at least some of us don’t know each other, and we were expected to cooperate from the start. Professionalism I guessed.

“Hello to you all.” Ajak started to speak with a smile on her face. “Welcome to earth.” She continued as we saw in the window that we are entering the earth’s atmosphere, and slowly heading towards what looks like Mesopotamia. “This is our first mission on earth, have you guys introduced yourselves to each other?” She asked, but got no reply whatsoever, which is a bit funny.

“Really? No one?” she questioned.

“I know him.” Sprite pointed at me. “His stares are creepy though.”

“Charming sprite.” I commented while rolling my eyes. “You don’t have to comment on it repeatedly you know?”

“I will comment on it as long as you still have it.” She answered decisively, which made me more annoyed.

“Okay, calm down…” Ajak interfered. “Anyone else really doesn’t know each other?”

“I know him.” Sersi pointed at Ikaris, which made me chuckle in my mind.

“There we go, anyone else?”

“I also know him.” She pointed to me this time.

“Okay… who else?”

“Um… you?”

Ajak sighed in surrender. “After this, you need to introduce yourself to each other. We’re going to live together for a long time, at least have the courtesy to know each other’s name.”

“We’ll know each other soon enough.” Thena commented rather dismissively. “Now can we get to the mission already? I didn’t go to earth for warm hugs from people.”

“Very well.” Ajak shook her head in surrender, then she turned to Phastos. “If you will…”

“Right.” He stepped up and started to conjure a hologram for us to see, it was the hologram of earth, and there were multiple red dots at it.

“The red dots are the deviants, now, as you all might know by now, our mission is to defeat the deviants and protect the humans.” He said, and I accidentally let out a rather loud chuckle because of the supposed ‘mission description’, making the others stare at me intently, especially Ajak.

“You’re weird.” Sprite commented, probably to irk me off.

“So are you, little girl.” I refuted, making the girl snort.

Ajak then coughs loudly, signaling Phastos to continue.

“As I was saying…” Phastos said awkwardly. “These red dots are the detected deviants, and our job is to cleanse the earth of the deviants, and we will start right here.”

He then tapped the hologram, zooming into the area of Mesopotamia. “The human population here is plenty, so we will start there first, and from here, we will help them develop.”

“So, we will stay there for a while even after all the deviants are dead in the area?” Kingo asked.

“Well… yes.” Phastos answered.

“How long?” Thena asked in irritation, looks like she’s a bit annoyed by it, she wants to fight after all.

“As long as humans develop.” Ajak interrupted. “We will watch them grow here, after we feel that they are adequate enough to be left alone, we will leave in search of the other deviants.”

“Why not split up?” I suggested. “While the others watch the humans, the rest hunt the deviants.”

“I find myself agreeing with Pluto.” Thena said. “Some of us aren’t here to watch humans, some of us just want the deviants gone.”

“We are a team.” Ajak insisted. “And we will stick together until I say so.”

“But-”

“I am the prime eternal here Pluto, not you.” Ajak sharply said. “Know your place.”

I sighed at this. “I understand Ajak.” I then looked at Then besides me, who is pretty dissatisfied, and I just smiled at her, which she returned, albeit weakly, she seemed grateful of my intervention.

“Alright then.” Ajak nodded, “Ikaris, Kingo, Thena, Gilgamesh, and Makkari, you five will be the one who will fight in this first contact, the rest of us will follow shortly.”

There it is… the split between the nurturers of the group and the fighters of the group. Me? I’m both, why? Because my power is a bit complicated.

I sighed again as the five retreated from the lab. My power is not capable of fighting yet, I am weak right now, the weakest of the bunch, but over time, I will be the strongest. And I will break free of the celestial’s shackle, that is my goal.

But for now, just like the One-Above-All said, I will watch. And I will also put seeds of doubt on everyone, trying to tell them that this mission is a scam, without telling them directly of course, Ajak would retaliate, and probably Ikaris as well.

I looked through the window of the Domo, and watched as Ikaris flew to the earth first, officially starting the mission.

“Good luck to me I guess…”

Chapter 3: Mesopotamia, 5000 BCE (1)

The domo is now floating in front of a cliff as the non-fighters watch the fighters fight the first deviants that we encounter, it was interesting to say the least, I saw these real powers in my own eyes, I saw Ikaris shoot lasers from his eyes, Kingo shooting energy balls from his fingers, Thena conjuring weapons, Gilgamesh smashing the deviants using his strength, and Makkari using his speed creatively.

“It makes you envy them a bit, doesn’t it?” Sprite suddenly commented beside me.

I shrugged as I heard her. “Making an illusion is cool too.”

The girl stared at me for a second before continuing. “You haven’t told us about your powers yet.” She pointed out.

“Ajak preferred that I should stay silent about it until I can use it.” I spoke.

“Why? Are you a fighter?”

“I’m… special I guess.”

“And the rest of us aren’t?” she snorted. “Come on, just tell me.”

“I can’t show you now little girl.” I chuckled. “We haven’t got a corpse yet.”

“A corpse?” She questioned, more confused than ever.

I sighed, preparing myself. “You’ll see soon enough.”

“They’ve finished.” Phastos suddenly commented. “We should go down.”

“Let’s go down then.” Ajak answered. She then turned towards me. “Remember, gather the data.”

“I understand Ajak.” I calmly said.

All of us then prepare to go down using Phastos’s control over the Domo. We went down the domo using this golden disk, courtesy of Phastos. I saw from the corner of my eyes that Sprite is nowhere to be seen, she probably used an illusion to make herself disappear. As we neared the ground, Phastos used his disks on himself to help him go down, he didn’t help the others though, the rest had to jump from the disk, he probably did it on purpose, I just know it.

Then, I saw the humans getting hostile to us, and I saw Druig controlling their minds to calm them down, really cool.

“It’s a handy power to have.” I commented beside him.

He shrugged. “Probably won’t have much use when fighting the deviants.”

“I’m sure we figured something out.” I reassured. Sersi then walked up to the humans and grabbed a flint knife that was laying on the ground, she then transmuted the knife into a golden knife, which shocked the humans.

Humans are easily impressed man, they probably regarded us as gods by now.

“Pluto.” Ajak suddenly called me, which made me turn to her. “You can do your thing now.”

“Very well Ajak.” I calmly said. Then, as Sersi began to help the humans, I walked to one of the corpses of the deviant. The corpses smell awful by the way, I almost threw up to be honest.

The others looked at me with confusion, the Humans and the Eternals alike, except Ajak of course, she already knows about my powers.

“Let’s see what I can actually do.” On top of my hand, I suddenly conjured a golden circle, and my eyes probably glowed golden as well as I felt my eyes heating up.

I pointed the circle to the corpse, and out of the pores of the Deviant, golden energy suddenly came out, and the energy slowly entered the circle that I conjured.

The corpse quickly wither as I did this, like I just sucked every life force from it. It’s not wrong though, technically I am absorbing the remaining ‘life force’ of the corpse.

To simply put, I absorb the little cosmic energy they have in their body. It includes memories, but because Deviants are not sentient, it’s not really useful, as well as experience, knowledge if the ones I absorbed are sentient, and many more.

And I could turn them into cosmic energy constructs, capable of basic commands, and fighting of course. It’s like Thena with her weapon construct, but I can make semi-sentient creatures/constructs.

My slave basically. They don’t have free will. ironic, isn’t it? I want to be free from the Celestial, but my power is to enslave people. They’re dead though, so that doesn’t count right?

It is a scary power, I know, as more corpses pile up, I become more powerful.

I can do it on humans as well, but I’m not allowed to do it, as it disturbs the emergence because the cosmic energy humans produce is for the baby Celestial.

It is also tied to my special mission. The mission is that I must gather data from the deviants. To simply put, absorb as many deviants as possible, and bring the data once the emergence happened.

But I won’t do that, I will rebel, and I will gain my freedom.

I continued to enlarge the circle I made and absorb the remaining deviant’s energy.

I’m probably smiling like a madman right now. I closed the circle, and tried to summon the construct. And I conjured three of them, the flying deviant, the lizard deviant, and the half spider half dog deviant.

They don’t have corporeal bodies, just golden runes and lines, their bodies are transparent, and if they are killed, I can just summon them again.

I stroked the three constructs, and it reacted to me, recognizing me as their owner.

I grinned at this.

One small step towards freedom.

“Pluto, enough, you’re scaring everyone.” I turned around to see Ajak, who was giving me a death stare like a mother scolding her child.

“I apologize.” I bowed to everyone and absorbed back the construct. I saw the humans looking at me in fear, that’s probably not a good thing, right?

I walked back to the rest of the group, and Gilgamesh whispered to me. “Your powers are creepy dude. Not to mention your smile while you’re absorbing it.” I felt Gilgamesh shiver, which made me chuckle.

“You have to get used to it I guess.” I commented.

“Not looking forward to that.” He murmured, which made me roll my eyes. I then turned to Thena, who is besides Gilgamesh, damn though, I can’t seem to take my eyes off this woman, I mean, it’s Angelina Jolie, what more do you expect?

“I saw what you did to the corpse there, my lady.” I respectfully bowed to the greatest warrior of ‘Olympia’. “Fine work.”

“Thank you.” She smiled weakly, fucking hell, Gilgamesh is lucky as fuck. Should I approach her instead? “Interesting power you have, perfect for our mission.” She continued.

“I’ve been specifically chosen to do this mission Thena.” I answered nonchalantly.

Thena and Gilgamesh raised their eyebrows. “You didn’t volunteer?”

“I did not.” I shook my head, although technically everyone didn’t volunteer, cause we’re engineers and all… “I have another mission to fulfil in this place.”

“And what is that mission I may ask?” Questioned Thena.

“Gathering the data of the Deviants mostly.” I spoke the truth, no one really told me to shut up about it, except the emergence part of course.

“Then why did you hide your powers back then?” Gilgamesh questioned.

I shrugged. “Technically I can’t show you then for obvious reasons, and it’s hard to explain. Ajak told me to not tell the details about my powers also, although she doesn’t tell me to shut up about the mission.”

“Then I’m looking forward to fighting alongside you.” Thena added.

“I thought I already said that back in the Domo…” I mumbled. “Anyway, I’m looking forward to fighting alongside you as well.”

Then we spread out, the two continued to help the gathered humans, while Ajak called me to have a private chat.

“Good work out there Pluto.” She complimented me, that felt nice.

“Thank you Ajak.” I bowed.

“But remember, don’t lose your sight.” She sternly reminded me. “It is true that you will be more powerful as time goes on, remember, we are here to protect the seed.”

I frowned at this, and Ajak noticed this. “Are we really like this Ajak? It is a suicide mission, and we’re raising these humans like food.” I questioned.

“Never doubt Arishem’s Grand Plan, Pluto.” She sharply said. “I trust Arishem’s plan, and you will do so as well.”

I sighed, it seems it’s too early to put the seed of doubt to Ajak. “I understand Ajak.” I bowed again to show respect.

“Good.” She patted my shoulder, healing my fatigue, not that I’m tired or anything. “For now, you should scout the area, eliminate all the Deviants in the vicinity, and don’t forget to absorb them. Oh, bring one or two of your family as well.”

“Very well.” I turned around and started to walk to the other Eternals, they were helping humans heal their wounded, and fixing their homes.

“Anybody wants to come with me? I need to search and kill the deviants in the vicinity, so these humans could prosper safely.” I announced to the eternals, and the place turned silent. The humans in the vicinity looked at me with respect and fear, a lot of them wouldn’t even dare to look at me for some reason, that’s a problem.

“I’ll go.” Kingo volunteered. “Just in the vicinity, right?”

“Yes…” I answered. “But are you sure?”

“Are you mocking me, Pluto?” He’s offended apparently.

“What? No… I just thought you wanted to stay here.”

“It’s fine, I’ve got nothing to do anyway.” He waved it off. “Being a builder is not my thing you know?”

I shrugged at his words. “Fine, suit yourself.”

“I will also go.” Thena also volunteered, which made me frown. “It’s fine Thena, you can rest here.”

“Eternals don’t rest.” She stated. “And I didn’t volunteer for this mission to be idle.”

I sighed. “Fine.” I Snapped my fingers, and three of my constructs are conjured, making the humans step back out of fear.

“You don’t have to summon it here you know?” Kingo commented. “Look at them, they’re scared.”

“From the looks of it, I am already feared, Kingo.” I pointed out. “Possibly because of my display of powers.”

He snorted. “Yeah, no kidding, your grin gave chills.”

“I think your smile is quite charming.” Thena complimented, surprising the two of us. “But it’s still… strange nonetheless.”

“I don’t even know if you’re mocking me or complimenting me Thena.” I chuckled as I stroked the winged construct. “Choose your ride.”

“You can ride these things?” Kingo questioned excitedly. “That’s really cool… I’ll take the one with the wings.”

“I’ll take the six-legged deviant.” Thena stated as she jumped to the back of one of the constructs.

“Guess I got you.” I mumbled, looking at the lizard construct. I jumped to the back of the Lizard and spoke again. “The construct will move on its own, it’ll hunt their former brethren for you.”

“That’s demented.” Kingo commented. “Pitting kin against kin.”

“Getting attached to the monster now?” Thena spoke with an elegant flare. “We just landed.”

“I’m not attached to these hideous things!” he refuted. “I’m just saying.”

“Whatever Kingo.” I rolled my eyes. “Let’s go now, don’t forget to bring the corpse.”

My three constructs then instantly moved through the human encampment and towards the surrounding area, splitting up.

I and Thena went south, scouring the Tigris River, while Kingo went north to the Euphrates River, the rivers weren’t named yet though, I just remember that the Rivers near Mesopotamia are named Tigris and Euphrates in my previous world, or is it Tegris? I forgot, oh well, I didn’t really pay attention during history class.

My Lizard construct started to move, and it looks like it already found its prey. I can’t really fight… so my lizard’s the one who will fight. Man, now that I think about it, without my constructs, I’m useless… I need to have a weapon on my own…

A couple hours of riding the lizard, it finally found its prey, a group of deviants chilling around at the coast. Man, I felt bad disturbing their rest time.

“Go.” I jumped from the lizard to the ground. If I wasn't an eternal, my bones would’ve probably been broken after I jumped… Thank One-Above-All I am an eternal.

The lizard then pounces on one of the chilling deviants, instantly ripping its neck. The other deviants are instantly alert and attack my construct. The lizard is struggling as it is gang banged by the other deviants, thankfully it can’t die, so all good.

I walked to the recently dead Deviant and started to absorb its remaining cosmic energy, and instantly summoned it. It was a big dog construct, and I commanded it to help the lizard.

The dog instantly moved and attacked the other deviants, supporting the lizard. The dog jumped from the back of the lizard and pounced on a flying deviant, grounding it, and tore its wings off, effectively immobilizing it.

“I feel useless right now…” I murmured to myself. “It’s boring to only watch…”

I walked nearer to the battlefield as the lizard and the dog continued to fight, I absorbed the recently dead, and conjured it instantly, and the tables have turned, now the deviants are the one who is overwhelmed.

About a couple minutes later, all the deviants that were chilling on the coast were dead, and I absorbed them all. In total, there are 4 new constructs, that’s already good. One winged, two dogs, and one six-legged.

Overall, not a bad haul.

“Help the others.” I commanded the construct, and they followed my command, instantly dispersing to find Thena and Kingo.

I then sat on a rock, enjoying the sunset view of this coast. Damn, If I could take a picture of the sunset right now using my phone…

“I miss my phone already…” I murmured to myself. “7000 years… I need to wait for 7000 years… or I could ask Phastos about it… but there won’t be any internet… So what's the point of asking him…”

I sighed at this. I climbed one of my construct, and left the area, planning on supporting the others.

Chapter 4: Mesopotamia, 5000 BCE (2)

I soon arrived at Thena’s location, and the sight was definitely brutal. I saw my construct fighting alongside her, and she is literally covered in deviant blood.

She also had a wide smile on her face.

I don’t know if I should like this or not to be honest. But I quickly got rid of the thought as I commanded my construct to support her. As me and my construct was getting nearer, I jumped from the construct and landed near the location of the dead Deviants. I quickly absorbed their cosmic energy and memories, and conjured them to help us fight the rest of it.

As I conjured them, I was hit by a sudden brute force from behind me, it was a deviant headbutting me, and I was thrown to the air, groaning in pain.

“Fucking hell that hurts.” I commented, even if I’m immortal, it still hurts… my eyes glowed, and I quickly commanded one of the dog constructs to attack the deviant who hurt me. The construct quickly dashed to the deviant, and attacked its neck, ripping it apart.

I quickly absorbed the dead deviant, and commanded the rest of my constructs to help Thena, as I saw that she was getting occupied.

“Took you long enough.” She commented while stabbing her spear through a deviant’s head, killing it instantly.

“I’m new to this okay? I’m not like you.” I refuted, which made her snort.

“I thought you’re specifically chosen for this mission?”

“That doesn’t mean I’m experienced.”

Thena then continued to slaughter the rest of the deviants in the vicinity, while I just watched my construct, and they fought for me… yes, I realize that I look like a burden right now.

As the last deviant is killed, Thena is standing on a corpse of the deviant, and she spoke to me. “Good job for your first fight.”

“Technically it isn’t my first.” I pointed out as I helped her go down the corpse, offering my hand to her. “And I didn’t do anything, my construct did all the work.”

She smiled as she took my hand and jumped down the corpse. “Still, good work.”

“Well, thank you.” I appreciate the compliment. “You should go back to the others.”

“What about Kingo?” She asked me.

“I’ll help him, you can’t fly anyway, better to clean up.” I said as I pointed at the deviant blood on her body.

“I’m used to blood.” She insisted.

“A lot of people aren’t.” I refuted.

She sighed and relented. “Very well, I will go back.”

“Thank you for understanding.” I smiled at her, to which she smiled back.

“It is a good first mission with you.” She pointed out. “I look forward to the next one.”

“I look forward to the next one too.” I repeated. Thena then jumped to one of my constructs, and quickly bolted off to the human encampment, returning early.

I quickly absorb the remaining dead deviants, and summon one of the flying deviants. I hopped on it, and flew to where Kingo is.

A couple of hours later, the sky is now getting darker and darker, and I’ve just arrived at where Kingo is.

It was a cool sight to be honest.

I saw Kingo riding one of my flying constructs and shooting his cosmic energy ball from the sky. My construct is dodging the attacks of other flying deviants, while Kingo is shooting them down.

“Need any help?” I asked as I flew by him.

“Of course, I need help! These things are really annoying.” He shouted in annoyance to me, chill out man.

“Alright, no need to shout.” I commanded my other flying constructs to attack the deviants. Mine dove down too, and my construct that I am riding slammed itself on one of the deviants, and they are currently fighting midair.

As they fight, I jumped from the construct, and landed on one of the flying deviants that is attacking Kingo.

I finally got some action.

Using my Eternals strength, I pulled the deviant’s neck to the back, and disoriented it. I guided the flying deviant to the other flying deviant, making them hit each other and fell to the ground.

I jumped from the falling deviant, and landed on one of my constructs.

“That was cool man!” Kingo complimented me. “I want to do that too now!”

“Focus on the bloody deviant Kingo!” I shouted. “That was just lucky.”

“Fine, but I will try it later.” He refuted, and he continued to shoot down all the flying deviants that were in our area.

A couple of minutes later, all the deviants around us are eradicated as they are overwhelmed by my ever-growing legion of constructs. Of course, I added the dead deviants to my collection too.

That was an amazing fight though, I got to jump around in the sky, the adrenaline is addicting.

But all things need to come to an end.

“You okay man?” Kingo asked me.

“I’m good.” I answered as I lay down on the back of my construct. “That was amazing.”

“Tell me about it.” He said excitedly as he jumped to my construct midair. “This counts as a success, right?”

“I’d say it’s a pretty good success for a first mission.” I nodded as I looked at the corpses of the deviants below us. “Let’s go back.”

Kingo nodded, and both of us quickly flew to the direction of the Domo, intending to go back to the others.

About an hour of flying, we finally arrived, and we saw that Phastos had already given the humans some new tech to improve their lives.

The humans became alert as me and Kingo landed in the middle of settlement, which freaked the humans out.

“Can you not scare them?” Sersi suddenly appeared near us, scolding me.

I shrugged. “I don’t like scaring them either, but humans need a good dose of fear of us, otherwise they will scheme against you.”

“They wouldn’t do that, you’re imagining things.” Sersi shook her head as me and Kingo got off the construct.

“He has a point, you know Sersi?” Kingo added. “It’s what makes them human in the first place, overtime, they will envy us, and possibly try to kill us.”

“Our mission is to protect humans, not make them fear us.” Sersi insisted.

“Fear is a way to control humans indirectly.” I added. “So they don’t do stupid things.”

“They will also do stupid things if they fear us.” Sersi refuted. “If they are scared of us, they will see us as a threat, thus making us a target.”

“True…” I mumbled. “Anyway, save the ideology talk for later, where’s Ajak?”

“In the Domo.” Sersi informed me. “Are you really done killing the deviants around us? Thena came back saying so… but that is really quick.”

“It’s true…” Kingo said. “Or at least we thought we killed the deviants around us, we probably have to check it again later.”

I sighed. “That was probably supposed to be like 1 yearlong work…”

“Your powers are useful; we might even go back to Olympia faster than we thought.” Kingo shrugged. Ooph, it must’ve hurt when they knew that Olympia didn’t exist…

“Right, see you guys later, I need to clean myself, I smell like Olympia’s sewer system...” He spoke.

I just hummed, and Kingo walked away from me and Sersi.

“What are you doing now?” I asked Sersi.

“Nothing really…” she answered.

“Want to accompany me to Ajak?” I asked, I wanted to talk to her anyway.

“Um… Sure, why not…”

The two of us then walked through the rows of human tents that looked new.

“These tents look new, did you give it to them?” I asked Sersi.

“It was Phastos.” She answered. “I just help set it up.”

“You just gave it to them?”

“Of course not, Phastos taught them how to make it so it will hold up for a long time. And they made it in an instant.”

“That’s great.” I spoke. Then, a couple of children walked past us, one even crashed into me, making him fall down to the ground.

I looked at Sersi, who just shrugged. I sighed, and kneel down in front of the boy. I helped the boy up, and smiled at him, although that’s probably the wrong move as I just realized that my face is quite threatening.

The boy jolted up and looked afraid. He ran away from us instantly.

Seeing this, Sersi giggled beside me. “Probably shouldn’t have smiled…”

“Well, if I don’t smile, I look even more threatening.” I grumbled.

“True…” She muttered, and finally sighed. “They’re afraid of you.”

“Really? Haven’t noticed.” I spoke sarcastically, it’s obvious that they’re afraid of me.

“It’s your own fault.” She pointed out. “If you just didn’t summon your constructs in the middle of the settlements, they’ll probably still like you.”

“They’re afraid of me because of my powers, Sersi.” I refuted. “Imagine seeing a person absorbing a dead body until it rots. If I was human with no powers, I’d be scared too.”

“Still, you are feeding the fear.” She said,

“It’s on purpose at this point.” I answered, surprising Sersi as we walked again. “I tend to be the villain in this group, so the humans won’t take advantage of your kindness.”

“How come you know it’ll happen?” She questioned me.

I sighed. “Let’s just say I have experience with it.” I’ve seen humans back in my previous world, I was human myself, so I know that at least one of them will take advantage.

“I thought this was your first mission?” She questioned me again, confused.

“It is.” I answered. “But being ‘human’ is a universal thing, in a way, they are like us, they just want to survive, and that includes getting more power to solidify their position as an apex predator, so no one will threaten them. And what happens when a sudden apex predator pops up?”

“With humans being sentient… they will probably plan to get rid of them…” She muttered. “But if we treat them with kindness, they will never do that, they will never see us as apex predators.”

“There will always be someone who has ambition, Sersi.” I spoke, I sound like an old man now. “Remember that.”

Sersi went silent after that, I chuckled and continued. “Well, at least we have Druig if they ever cross that line.”

Sersi instantly frowned. “Then why are you making them fear us in the first place?”

“Prevention is better than cure Sersi.” I stated as we arrived at the Domo. “You want to come in? or are you going to the settlement again?”

“I’ll come in.” she shrugged. “The work’s finished for the day anyway.”

I hummed, and both of us entered the Domo. We appeared in a hallway in the Domo, and we continued to walk towards Ajak’s location.

“Have you learned their language yet?” I asked Sersi once again.

“I haven’t.” she answered. “Phastos is working on a translator first, then we can learn their language.”

“Phastos is a handyman indeed.” I murmured. After that, we arrived at the hall where Ajak is in. When we entered the hall, I also saw Thena, Ikaris, Sprite, and Phastos inside, and I greeted the Prime Eternal. Sersi however, talking to Ikaris, I can see the flowers blooming within the two.

“I’ve finished it.” I said to Ajak. “But just in case I’ll patrol again tomorrow.”

“Good job.” She nodded and smiled.

“That’s probably one year's worth of work, so we can focus on developing the settlement right here for a while.” I informed.

“I’m in the process of making a portable tracker for the deviants.” Phastos added. “So you don’t have to check again next time.”

“Well, thank you.” I said. “Say, can you make a weapon for me?”

“You already have your powers Pluto… What more do you want?” I heard Sprite grumble.

“It’s boring if I just look at my constructs fighting, I want to get in the action.” I flatly replied. “Jealous, Sprite?” I teased her, that’s it, I will tease her with this for the next 7000 years, along with her small body of course.

The young girl frowned, she raised her hand, and cast an illusion on me, and I saw the group laughed at me, especially Thena.

“What did you do to me?” I raised my eyebrows to the grinning Sprite. She didn’t answer it, but Thena’s the one who answered it.

“You have dog ears and a tail.” Thena giggled, answering me.

“Oh, Ha Ha Sprite, cancel your Illusion.” I rolled my eyes.

“You have to say please first.” She added, still Grinning.

“Please.” I grumbled, and the girl cancel the illusion, I’m going to torture her for the next 7000 years. “Anyway, can you Phastos?”

“I don’t know man; I have to test how well your cosmic energy manipulation is first.” He answered.

“In case you didn’t notice, I can make a semi-sentient construct, I’d say that’s good enough.” I pointed out to Phastos.

“Still, I need to see what weapon would suit you the most.” He answered. “But I’m a bit preoccupied right now, so see me around… 10 years.”

“Are you serious?” I raised my eyebrow, not believing his words.

“I am.” He said in an innocent look.

“Are you sure that you’re not delaying it because you’re a pacifist and afraid of me hurting the humans?”

“I am sure.” He said with an innocent look, again.

I sighed. “Fine, whatever.”

No wonder Druig and the others didn’t have weapons on their own…

Chapter 5: Mesopotamia, 4999 BCE

It has been a year since we landed on Mesopotamia, and since then, it has been boring to say the least.

On most days, I just stay at a beach, training myself to the brim. What training do you ask? In preparation for my weapon of course. After a couple of days, Phastos finally relented on checking me up, and from the test, he concluded that I am suited to use a spear like weapon, so I chose the bident. I also asked him to give the bident some sort of long range attack, he just hummed and walked away. Yes, it’s quite annoying to deal with Phastos, but alas, I’ve got no choice.

Anyway, since then, I started to train on how to use the bident, and yesterday, I just asked Thena to train me on using the bident proficiently, I know the muscle memories of fighting using bare hands, but not a bident.

Thena agrees, and right now, I’m starting to regret it to be honest.

As I have a monologue in my head, Thena kicked me in the stomach so hard that I was thrown a couple of meters away from where I was standing.

“Is this really your strength?” Thena questioned me with that damn smirk while she placed her hands at her hips. “Your face doesn’t match your fighting power.”

“We have different strengths…” I grumbled as I stood up weakly. “I’m not like you, or Gil, or Ikaris… I’m supposed to stand at the back while my constructs fight for me.”

“Aww.” She shook her head in amusement. “And why are you training to use a bident now?”

“Just wanted to be in the action is all…” I murmured. “And just in case…”

“Well, then pull yourself together and continue to train.” Thena suddenly grabbed a wooden bident laying beside her, and threw it to me. The bident pierced the ground in front of me, fucking hell woman, can you at least be gentle to me…

“You look pathetic right now, you know?” Gilgamesh, who had been watching us the entire time, suddenly exclaimed as he laughed. “Usually you look menacing with your creepy smile and your constructs surrounding you, but now you look really pathetic.”

“In times like these I hope that Phastos made me a recording device, this is just golden.” Sprite, who is also watching, also commented with a laugh.

“Shut up, I’m trying to survive here.” I rolled my eyes as I picked up the bident.

“I’m not going to kill you Pluto…” Thena spoke. “I’m just going to hurt you, really, really, badly… so you can learn quickly of course.”

I gulped, while Gilgamesh and Sprite just laughed more loudly, I truly regret asking Thena about training me…

The next day, my body hurts like hell. Thena beat me up all day yesterday, which is not fun. It didn’t help that Gilgamesh and Sprite were laughing at me the entire time.

I just got healed by Ajak, which is a nice feeling, and now I’m walking through the hallway of Domo, and towards Phastos’s lab.

“Yo Phastos, is my weapon done yet?” I asked excitedly.

Phastos turned around and groaned when he saw me. “Can you not bother me everyday?”

“I will continue to bother you until you give me my weapon.”

“If you continue like this then I won’t make you the weapon.” Phastos threatened back, which shut me up.

I sighed. “Fine.” I grumbled. “How’s it going with the tech for Humans by the way?”

“Slow as always.” He muttered. “And Ajak still forbids me to quicken it.”

“Your tech is too sudden in my opinion… I mean… gunpowder really? It’s only been a year since we’ve arrived, and you want to give them gunpowder? You want to make them kill each other or something?”

“It can help them to hunt.” He insisted.

“Sure, keep lying to yourself Phastos.” I said as I sat down near a window of the Domo. “You know sooner or later they will kill each other for power and territory.”

Phastos went silent after that.

“Tell me Phastos, is it good to give these guys technology?” I questioned. “I mean, sure, it’s inevitable that they will make gunpowder, but do we really have to quicken it?”

“The quicker we are to develop humanity, the quicker we will go home.” He lazily said.

I hummed. “Have you noticed something wrong with our mission?” I questioned Phastos.

“What do you mean? It’s a simple mission, we protect humans and help them develop, and eradicate the deviants in the planet, that’s it.”

“But why are we helping them develop? Does Arishem really care about Humans in the first place? I mean, they will just be another civilization in the galaxy once we leave. I feel like Arishem is hiding something on why we need to protect these humans and help them develop…”

Phastos frowned at my words. “You don’t trust Arishem’s plans?”

“I’m just saying man.” I shrugged, and Phastos kept looking at me with a frown. “Well, keep doing the good work, and don’t forget my weapon.” I said as I left the room, I hope Phastos gets my message, he’s the smartest out of all of us, so I hope he’ll figure it out soon enough.

I then quickly got out of the Domo, and entered the settlement, the place have been growing steadily in the past year, a lot more people joined in the place, mud buildings are starting to be built, agriculture is starting to grow in the area, it was really cool to see a settlement developing this nicely.

As soon as I entered the place, the humans wouldn’t dare to look at me, Sersi told me that they fear me and respect me at the same time, which is nice I guess.

In these years, I'm starting to lose my sense of humanity. I'm starting to accept that I’m an eternal, not a human, and these humans are smaller and weaker than me, which is odd… considering I was once a human.

I quickly walked to the edge of the settlement, and towards a cliff, where I saw a lone Ikaris sitting idly at the edge of it.

“Bored?” I asked the man while also sitting beside him.

Ikaris noticed me and sighed. “A bit.”

“Where’s Sersi?” I questioned, making him frown.

“I don’t know, why d’you ask?” he questioned back.

I shrugged. “I don’t know, you two seemed close.”

“You think we’re close?”

“You like her right?” I asked. “As in romantically?”

He avoided my gaze, oh, that’s a strange behavior from Ikaris. “It will distract the mission if I pursue it.”

Typical Ikaris. “You should get a life too you know, the mission is long term, you can enjoy life a bit…”

“But she likes to gather around the humans.” He stated. “And I’m not good with that kind of thing… I don’t even know their language.”

“Then learn.” I sighed. “They don’t even like me, and I learned their language…”

Ikaris went quiet after that.

“Look, the mission isn’t everything Ikaris, you need to enjoy yourself more often, you’re the fighter, so you don’t have much to do in times like these, so have a life.” I patted his shoulder and walked away from him.

I bond with two eternals today? Damn, I feel like I’m in Persona right now, with confidants/social links and shit.

Anyway, once I’ve talked to Ikaris, I summoned my flying deviant construct, and flew away from the place, and towards my usual place.

What usual place do you ask? Well, this past year, I discovered a cave near the settlement, and I often went there to be alone and experiment.

What experiment do you ask? Well, I’ve been experimenting with my powers.

As I landed near the cave, I entered the cave. I’ve placed some decorations here and there, nothing fancy though, just a hide to lay down, and a log to sit down.

Then, I quickly summoned three of my constructs, three of them are the flying deviants.

“Now, creature number 3.” I mumbled to myself as my eyes glowed while I summoned the circle on my hand.

I did some hand waving, and the three summoned constructs suddenly turned into golden particles again.

Not long, the particles mixed, and it made a spiral in front of me.

And after a while, it became a new creature. A big ass three headed winged deviant, its necks are really long, it looked like Ghidorah from the Godzilla movies…

“Right, you know what, why not, I will call you Ghidorah from now on.” I said, patting one of the three heads.

It’s cool right? I can combine my constructs. Only three constructs per session though, don’t know why.

Why am I doing this? Well, the experiences of the constructs also combined into one, so it’ll be more deadly, and their cosmic energy is more powerful as well, triple the regular amount to be exact.

It’s quite a discovery on my part.

“Now I have three of these creatures…” I muttered to myself as I summoned the other two ‘hybrid’ constructs.

The first Hybrid I made is a three headed dog, it’s quite huge, I call it Cerberus for obvious reasons. Maybe I should change it to Fluffy instead? I don’t know, maybe later.

The second hybrid is a three headed lizard, again, it’s big, long necks, no wings though, but it works, I called it Hydra.

And the last one is of course Ghidorah.

Hmm… I need more construct variation to experiment…

Can normal animals produce powerful constructs? Well, I have a lot of time, for now I’ll just stick with the deviants.

Now, I summoned 3 spider-like deviants, I turned them into pure cosmic particles, and combined it, and after a while, it finally formed.

It was bloody terrifying.

It’s a humongous 12-legged spider… thank One-Above-All I don’t have Arachnophobia… otherwise I’d probably pass out seeing this, even if it’s just a construct, it’s scary…

“Right…” I hesitantly pet it, god it feels weird... “I’ll name you… Arachne? Yeah, let’s do that…”

Suddenly, I heard a sonic boom right at the entrance of the cave, and my ears are ringing right now from the sound.

“Seriously!?” I covered my ears to at least ease the ringing, but it doesn’t work. I turned around, and saw Makkari, leaning against a rock, smirking at me.

“Why are you here?” I asked Makkari using sign language, no wonder she’s created deaf, to prevent her from hurting herself while doing one of the sonic booms. “And why the grand entrance?!”

“Hello to you too.” Said Makkari using sign language. “This is your cave huh…”

“You didn’t answer my question Makkari…”

“I’m just exploring.” She shrugged. “What’s up with the giant spider behind you?”

“Experimenting with my powers, that’s all.” I answered with sign language as I walked closer to her. I also absorbed the spider back. “Do you need anything from me?”

“Not really, just bored.” She answered.

“Can’t say I don’t know the feeling…” I said. “Where’s Druig?”

She raised her eyebrow in amusement. “Why are you asking me that?”

“I mean… no reason.” I chuckled. “You can go back now, in case you haven’t noticed, this is my private space.”

She was thoughtful, and smirked. “I think not.” She said in sign language. “I’m bored, I’ll watch you experiment.”

I groaned. “Can you bother somebody else?”

“Your experiment looks interesting.” She stated. “I wanted to see it.”

“Fine.” I sighed. “Just don’t disturb my work.”

Then, I continued my experiment a bit until sundown, completely ignoring the woman who was sitting on a rock behind me, staring at my constructs curiously.

I didn’t have much results after that, the combinations looked ugly except the four that I discovered, much to my disappointment.

As the sun went down, I absorbed the failed experiments back, and went back with Makkari.

“I am not letting you run near me again.” I said in protest. “My ears will bleed if this continues.”

“Well, I can’t hear, so…” She shrugged.

“No offense or anything…” I murmured, is that offensive? I don’t know… “We’ll take my construct.”

“Let’s ride that three headed lizard thing.” She excitedly said to me. “That thing looks cool.”

“To you? Yes. To the humans, they’ll shit themselves if they see it.”

“Since when did it stop you?” She raised her eyebrows in amusement.

“Never.” I grinned and summoned Ghidorah in front of us, the three headed constructs sits tall in front of us, the three heads are looking at me, waiting for a command.

“After you, my lady.” I smirked, letting Makkari climb up the big construct first.

Makkari played along and bowed in amusement, and she climbed up the back of Ghidorah, and after that, I also climbed.

Ghidorah then took off with a strong gust of wind because of its wings, shaking the area.

“This construct is a bit too much for battle don’t you think?” She asked using sign language in curiosity as she inspects the lines and runes of the body of Ghidorah.

“Nothing is too much in my eyes Makkari.” I stated. “Maybe we’ll encounter a big deviant one day, and we’ll use these kinds of constructs to defeat it.”

“Fair enough.” She dismissively said.

About an hour later, we finally saw the settlement from the back of Ghidorah, and I saw that the humans were terrified when they saw my constructs. I'm starting to like seeing them afraid to be honest…

I intentionally landed in the middle of settlement, scaring many humans that lived there, which made me chuckle a bit.

“Now you’re intentionally scaring them.” Makkari stated, a smile could be seen on her face.

“Hey, it's not my fault they’re afraid of everything.” I shrugged as I helped her go down Ghidorah’s back.

“Well, there she is…” Someone suddenly said, I looked around and saw that it is Druig, he used his mind control to calm the humans down, and making them get out of the way.

Makkari also saw him, and smiled widely. “Hello.”

“Hello to you too.” He said, then, he turned to me. “You know Sersi’s going to complain to Ajak again right?”

I shrugged. “It’s worth it.”

“You are a sadist.” He shook his head in amusement. “Well, I’m going to take this pleasant lady over here on a walk, see you around.” He said as he walked to Makkari’s side.

Makkari smiled at this and said goodbye to me as he dragged her from me and my construct.

“This has been a not-so-boring day.” I mused as I absorbed Ghidorah. “I hope we leave this settlement soon.”

I walked to the Domo, planning on ending the day.

Chapter 6: Mesopotamia, 4500 – 4250 BCE

[4500 BCE]

It has been almost 500 years since we landed. 500 YEARS!!! And yet, no progress whatsoever!

Ajak still wouldn’t allow us to move to the next area, which is just fucking annoying. That's 500 years! Doing nothing! If I was a normal human, I would probably be insane right now.

I’m not the only one who’s annoyed by the way, Thena is also annoyed by it, during our yearly meeting, she always brings it up, asking why we still haven’t moved yet, and Ajak always said:

"This era is important for humankind. We need to guide them carefully during this time, to make sure that they will develop as they should, and I am sure that they will build wonders. "

I always snorted at that line. "You know that this is not the only human settlement, right?"

And of course, she answered. "Yet this is the most effective place to develop civilizations."

I usually don’t want to argue anymore and just shut up.

Anyway…

In these boring 500 years, I’ve developed some hobbies… I saw humans doing stone sculptures. Some made it for us, but it’s quite inaccurate, but hey, at least they tried.

They didn’t make a sculpture of me though. It’s been 500 years, and it seems the scene of me absorbing the cosmic energy of the deviants still haunts them. They probably told their children about me and said that I would eat them or some shit.

It’s a bit frustrating to be honest… I was once human, yet they feared me. But I have lived for 500 years, my sense of identity as a human is practically non-existent.

After seeing the humans sculpting, I tried it too. It’s really calming, and fun too. I often carved one of my constructs into a stone and made it look more menacing. The biggest one I made is a Ghidorah statue, around 5 meters tall. I made it around a cave near the settlement, and now the humans don’t want to go there anymore.

After that accident, Ajak and Sersi demanded I stop sculpting my constructs, as it scared the humans. At this point, I didn’t want to argue anymore, so I just went along with it, but... I decided to have some fun with it.

"But, each of you will come to me to be sculpted." I said as I grinned at the two eternals.

"Two of us?" Sersi asked, a bit annoyed.

"No, all of you." I said flatly. "If we’re not moving anytime soon, at least you need to satiate my boredom."

Ajak sighed at this. "Alright, I’ll talk to the others, Kingo probably wanted to be sculpted anyway. I’ve seen him around humans, trying to be sculpted."

"Ah yes... Kingo... He’s a bit egocentric now, isn't he? " I mused. "Probably because he’s so bored... he developed an interest in that kind of thing." I continued sarcastically.

Ajak frowned. "Why are you so adamant about moving Pluto?"

I look at her as if she’s insane. "Are you serious right now? I’m bored Ajak, there’s no deviant to absorb and study anymore, I’ve done every combination possible, and most of them are shit, on top of that, Phastos still wouldn’t want to make my weapon, and my body is now numb because of Thena’s beating, I’m craving for something new Ajak, and before you said to get a life and talk to the humans, they fear me remember?"

"Isn’t it your fault that you are feared?" Sersi questioned.

"True, but it wasn’t by choice. They feared me since I absorbed that deviant in front of them. I just went along with it."

"Still your fault."

I sighed. "Look, at least allow me to explore the earth."

"We are a team Pluto, we need to stick together." Ajak continued.

"Then I’ll take some of us with me." I countered. "Thena is bored too. Gilgamesh will probably go along. Makkari and Druig too. In fact, probably only two of you that wanted to stay."

Ajak thought for a while. "I will talk to Arishem about this first."

I groaned at the name. "Are you serious right now? Our progress is too slow, Arishem will probably agree too. "

"I still need to report this to Arishem." Ajak insisted. "I will make a decision. In the meantime, I will tell the others to come to you so you can sculpt them. It’ll be good memorabilia to put in the Domo."

Ajak then left the place, but Sersi stayed. "I’ll go first." She said.

I raised my eyebrow. "You sure?"

"Yeah... why?"

"I could sculpt you and Ikaris together if you want."

"Why Ikaris specifically?" She raised her eyebrow, but I could tell she blushed a bit. I still didn’t know how we could blush.

"I’ve seen how he looks at you." I flatly replied. "If you like him too, you should just talk to him about it. He seems a bit stiff nowadays, and probably needs some love." I continued as I summoned a construct I killed around 200 years ago. I commanded it to pick up some rock so I could sculpt Sersi.

"I- We’re eternals, we can’t reproduce." She stuttered.

"So?" I raised my eyebrow.

"Isn’t that the whole point of it? I’ve seen humans do it. "

"Wow." I chuckled. "You’re watching humans having sex, Sersi?"

"I didn’t do it on purpose." She grumbled.

I sighed. "That’s not the whole point Sersi, sure, reproducing is one of the points, but it’s mostly love."

She hummed as she sat on a wooden stool nearby. "What is love actually?"

"Are you serious?" I questioned "Your thing is literally loving humans, and you don’t know what love is?"

"Loving humans and this is an entirely different thing." She refuted

The bull finally arrived with the rock and put it in front of me, ready to be sculpted. I absorbed it back and started to work. "True, to be honest, I don’t know what that kind of love is too." I stated.

"And you’re advising me about it?" She snorted.

I shrugged. "I observed humans for the past 500 years. That kind of love makes you dumb, so the one who hasn’t experienced it tends to give good advice... probably." I never had a girlfriend, so I don't really know about this...

"So you watch humans have sex too? But the difference between us is that you’re intentional?" She mused.

I laughed. "Of course not, I just watch humans interact with each other. It’s strange really."

"What’s strange?"

"We have already lived here for 500 years, Sersi... I’ve seen a couple of generations of humans die, and frankly, I don’t know their faces anymore." I stated. "And I don’t really have a connection between humans, so now, I see them as more of an interesting subject to watch, I’m not someone who interacts with them almost on a daily basis. I simply view them as, well... a mission objective."

Sersi frowned at my words. "So they don’t mean anything to you?"

"For now? Yes."

"For now?"

"Perception can change." I informed. "That’s why I wanted to quickly move from this place aside from boredom, maybe the humans that lived in the next area we visited will like me, and I can develop a connection between humans."

Sersi hummed. "Perhaps it is a good idea to move after all."

I nodded. "You’re too attached." I continued. "It’ll be hard for you to leave once the time has come." Not that we ever leave anyway.

"I know." She sighed as I finished cutting the rough shape of her. Now for some detailing. "When do you think we’ll finish this mission? "

"With only killing the deviants? Probably around 500 years, but with developing humans? It’ll probably take around 5000 more years."

She sighed again. "Well, it’s still 5000 more years I guess."

"Like I said, you’re too attached Sersi." I stated. "But I won’t stop you from feeling that. Perhaps it is that feeling that will make us free in the future. "

Sersi heard what I said and was confused. "Free?"

I just smiled at her and didn’t answer the question. "Right, can you move your head a bit, I wanted to see your side face."

She did what I asked, and I started working on the details of her face. And a couple of minutes later, Gilgamesh suddenly came to the place.

"Ajak asked me to come here, what’s going on?" He said.

"You’ll be sculpted by Pluto." Sersi answered calmly.

"Sculpted?" he questioned, and he saw the statue. "Oh, I don’t know, man…"

"Come on, Gil, it’s for the décor of the Domo." I mused.

He sighed and sat near me, in front of Sersi. "It’s strange to see you transform from that maniac who smiled when absorbing the deviants in front of humans to this… artist…"

"Probably because of my powers." I shrugged. "I can combine my constructs… and my artistic heart just popped out I guess."

He chuckled and murmured. "Artistic heart..."

"Anyway, after I’m done with Sersi, it’s your turn, but I need to move her statue to the Domo first, so I need your help."

He grimaced at this. "So I’m a hauler now? Because of my big body?"

"You’re the best for the job." I shrugged.

A couple of minutes went by, and I continued to work in silence. Sersi however is uncomfortable with the silence and asks Gilgamesh.

"So how’s mingling with humans treating you, Gil?"

"Not bad." He shrugged. "They’re fun to be around. Their alcohol is quite nice."

I chuckled. "It’s funny that one of the things that Ajak allowed Phastos to teach them is alcohol making."

"Alcohol brings people closer." Sersi added.

"And also make them kill each other." I refuted.

"What is going on with you two?" Gilgamesh asked in amusement. "Since the start you two just didn’t get along, starting from that construct around humans thing."

"Really? We don’t get along? " I asked as I looked at Sersi. "We’re getting along just fine in my opinion, I’m closer to her than the rest of us."

"Speak for yourself." She sighed. "You’re just annoying to be around, acting like a wise man about everything."

"I’m just giving you advice." I pointed out. "And that’s cold from you, Sersi. I thought we were friends." I teased her.

She sighed. "Let’s just get this over with…"

I chuckled. "Fine, Gil is my friend now."

"Eh, I’ll pass." He laughed. "Sersi’s right, you are annoying to be around."

"Damn, fine, I’ll just stay alone for the rest of the mission." I grumbled. "Maybe Thena likes me. She must’ve seen me as a friend, right? She trained me after all..."

Gilgamesh shrugged. "Probably."

Suddenly, Sersi spoke again. "I find it interesting that you are the first to introduce yourself to the rest of us, yet now, you rarely talk to us except at times like these and the yearly meeting. Why is that? "

"Now that I thought about it… yeah… why is that?" Gilgamesh repeated.

I just smiled at the question. "I’m different from you all…"

"Different how?" Sersi raised her eyebrows.

"With all of us, aside from Ajak who’s the prime Eternal, I’m the only one who has a special mission."

"True..." Gilgamesh mumbled. "But it isn’t the only reason, is it?"

I chuckled. "Maybe, maybe not."

"You are the most mysterious out of all of us Pluto…" Sersi said. "And I’ve noticed that you fight a lot with Ajak."

"I fight with you too..."

"Yeah, but with me it was just a bit of banter, but with Ajak, you actually oppose her orders sometimes, like the whole staying in this place thing…"

"I’m just giving my thoughts, that’s all."

Gilgamesh chuckled. "Pluto fighting the others, that’s just normal Sersi. He fights with Phastos too."

"That’s because he still hasn’t finished my weapon yet." I grumbled as I finished the last touches on the sculpture. It looks good.

"Looks okay." Gilgamesh commented.

"What do you mean, okay?! I look horrible! " Sersi complained.

"It’s sculpting Sersi. What more do you want, a perfect replica?" I questioned. "Anyway, let’s take this back to Domo. I’ll do Gilgamesh’s sculpture in the Domo."

The three of us then returned to the Domo, with Sersi’s statue carried by Gilgamesh and placed in the hall.

Right now, the other Eternals are gathering around the statue, ‘admiring’ it.

"It looks horrible." Sprite said with a deadpan expression.

"I think it looks fine." Ikaris shrugged.

"If ‘fine’ in your book means ‘looking like you have been stung by a bee ’ then yeah, it looks fine." Sarcastically, Phastos said.

"It’s sculpting Phastos. What do you expect?" I refuted.

"Can you at least make her more… her? I do not want to be sculpted by you if the result is this. " Phastos continued.

"At least I don’t have a slow work ethic like you." I refuted once again, making him snort and leave the place. "So, after Gilgamesh, who’ll be next?"

"Yeah, I’ll pass, buddy." Sprite left too, while patting my back.

"It’s mandatory Sprite!"

"Don’t care." she said dismissively, and finally left the room.

"Can I be after Gilgamesh?" Kingo asked, rather enthusiastically. "I have a ton of requests!"

"Sure Kingo, whatever you want." I gave a thumbs-up to the man, and finally, I looked at Thena. "What about you, Thena?"

"Why not? It’s not like I have much to do. " She said this while leaving the room.

I nodded and turned to Ikaris. "You?"

"Sure." He shrugged.

"Then that’s good. I’ll pick the stone later. "

After that, I searched for Makkari and Druig, offering my service, and they said yes, but said that they wanted to be sculpted together, I just shrugged and said: "Why not?"

And that day, I became busy again, from experimenting to sculpting statues. At least it’s making me feel not bored, I got to talk to the eternals as well, which is nice.

[4250 BCE]

"I have come to a conclusion." Ajak spoke in the middle of the yearly meeting. "We are moving."

"At long last!" I exclaimed, making the others look at me.

"Yes... calm down, Pluto..." Ajak warned me, so I just shut up. "We are going south, Phastos?"

Phastos began his work, and an earth map appeared. "We are going here." He pointed at a place near the Nile River, so I’m guessing we’re going to Egypt now…

"How many deviants are there?" Thena asked, not bothering to wait.

"A lot." Phastos simply said.

"Good enough for me." She continued.

Phastos then zoomed in on the place. "There is a rather big settlement here, so we could stay there as our next base."

"Once we get there, what are we going to do?" Druig asked. "It’s not like we can appear out of thin air with powers like this, they’ll attack us."

"That’s why we have you, Druig." I said. "Control their minds."

"That is a last resort, Druig." Ajak issued a stern warning. "We will slowly integrate with them and help their society."

I snorted. "And what? It’s not like here Ajak. They don’t know us. For all we know, they will attack us on sight, especially when they see a giant triangle rock floating above their settlement. "

"We will do it slowly, Pluto." Ajak calmly said.

"For once, I agree with Pluto." Sprite added, surprising me a bit. "Even if we do it slowly, they will still not trust us. It’s different from here."

"We will use your skill Sprite." Ajak smiled. "Attract the people of that settlement with your stories and illusions."

"We don’t know their language, remember?" She added.

"Then we’ll learn, we have time." She nodded.

She sighed. "Fine."

"Any other questions?"

"What about the deviants?" Ikaris asked.

"We eliminate them, of course." Ajak said. "You, Pluto, Thena, and Kingo will scour the area for any deviants, while Gilgamesh stays with the rest of us in case they’ve become aggressive."

"Fair enough." I spoke. "Phastos, what about my weapon? It’s about time, don’t you think? "

He groaned. "Find me some good material, then we’ll talk."

"Are you kidding?!" I yelled. "It’s been 750 years, Phastos! And you only tell me now?!"

"I haven’t got time to think about it." He shrugged.

"Fucking piece of shit." I murmured.

"Quite down, you two." Ajak warned. "Phastos, let’s go now."

"Now?" Sersi questioned. "We won’t say goodbye to the humans here?"

"We don’t have to Sersi." Ajak shook her head. "We will leave now."

"But-"

"You are too attached, Sersi." Ajak cut her off.

"That’s the same line that Pluto told me…" She mumbled. "Fine…"

"Good." She nodded. "Phastos?"

Phastos once again nodded, and he began to control the ship. After 750 years, the ship finally moved again, surprising the human population nearby. Sersi just looked at them at the window, and waved her hand, even though they couldn’t see it.

And after a couple of seconds of preparation, the Domo finally flew off to Egypt, to the Nile River.

After a couple of minutes of flying, we’ve finally arrived near the Nile River. Once, I could see the landscape of Africa, and I was baffled at the scene.

What the fuck?! Where is the desert?! Why is the Sahara green?!

Chapter 7: The Green Sahara, 4250 BCE

What the fuck is happening right now?! Am I in an alternate universe?! The Sahara is green?!

"You alright man?" Kingo asked me.

"Y-Yeah… I’m good." I quickly recollected myself and turned to Ajak. "Ajak, this place seems abundant in life, I want to request some time alone."

Ajak frowned at my words. "What do you mean Pluto?"

"I want to explore this vast land." I simply told the truth. "This place is flourishing, I wanted to study the ecosystem and the animals inside those green pastures and grasslands. Maybe I could discover a good combination of constructs."

"Your thirst for power is alarming Pluto. And you’re ruining the plan we just discussed." Ajak said in a low threatening tone.

"I’m just curious is all…" I said in defense. "Don’t worry, I’ll do my job, I’ll kill the deviants on this continent."

Ajak pondered for a while. "How long?"

"Not sure…" I murmured. "Phastos, can I ask you something?"

Phastos groaned once he heard me call him. "I swear man, if-"

"Can you check if these pastures and forests will dry out?" I continued. "I have a feeling it will…"

At these words, Phastos turned serious, and he quickly tinkered with the computer of the Domo. A minute later, he discovered something. "As a matter of fact, it is drying…" he murmured. "Probably in a couple of hundred years, these pastures and grasslands will be a desert…"

"How did you know that?" Sprite asked me with narrowed eyes.

"Like I said, just a feeling..." I muttered, so it will still be the Sahara Desert… I must’ve slept during history class or something when they talked about how the Sahara was once green…

"You are clearly lying right now." Sprite rolled her eyes.

I sighed. "I am not lying." I am lying. "Anyway… Do I have permission to separate from the team? "

"Do you really hate us that much?" Thena stepped in, snorting at my words.

"What? No… of course not." I quickly said. "Especially you, Thena, I would never hate you." I tried flattery to get into her good graces, but it seems she is annoyed that I am requesting to leave and get all the action while she’s staying here with the rest of us…

"Flattery will not make you go anywhere." She rolled her eyes. She then turned to Ajak and said: "If he’s allowed, I’m coming with him."

"Thena…" Ajak slowly said.

"You know, I don’t like idling around like this, Ajak." Thena added. "If he’s allowed, then I will come with him."

"Um… you don’t have to…" I said to her, I do NOT want her to follow me. She’ll just disturb my experiment.

"I didn’t ask for your opinion, Pluto." She said flatly, fuck me…

Ajak just sighed. "Tell me the true reason why you are going to separate from us, then I might consider it." She said to me,

"Honestly, I want to absorb as many specimens as possible, and by that I mean deviants and animals…" I answered truthfully. "And you’ve been restricting me for the past 750 years, I wanted to stretch my legs a bit."

"Is that truly all?" she questioned, with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes." No, I wanted to go to Wakanda to get some Vibranium too, for my weapon, of course.

Ajak narrowed her eyes and sighed. "Very well, both of you can go."

"What about the rest of us?" Ikaris questioned.

"Can I suggest something?" I offered, and Ajak nodded. "While me and Thena scour the rest of the continent, the rest of you will only scour the river." I pointed at the Nile River on the map.

"That makes sense." Phastos nodded. "Deviants mostly gather around the populated areas, so the number of deviants around the river is quite high."

I nodded. "And you have to deal with the humans too, me and Thena don’t, so it’s quite fair in my opinion."

"I agree with Pluto." Sersi said.

"Fine enough for me." Sprite shrugged.

"Very well…" Ikaris solemnly said.

"Well, I have no choice… so… okay. " Druig said, while Makkari just nodded.

Thena turned to Gilgamesh. "Do you want to come with us?"

"Nah, you two have fun." He smiled at the woman. "I’ll be here protecting the rest."

She just nodded, and suddenly, Kingo said. "Wait, can I come with you two?"

"Kingo, I thought you liked the idea of being popular?" I raised my eyebrow. "You’ll be more famous if you fight near the settlement rather than come with us."

"You know what, that’s a great point, actually." He nodded wisely. "I’m staying."

"Then that’s settled." Ajak interrupted. "I suggest that you two prepare and head down first, while the rest of us approach the settlement."

I hummed, and me and Thena left the room for the ‘armory’ to wear our armor.

"Why are you coming with me?" I asked the woman beside me while walking towards the armory.

"I have a feeling it would be more fun coming with you." She simply said, Damn, that sentence can be interpreted the wrong way if I’m not careful…

I sighed. "I’ve noticed that you’re a bit distant from the humans." I pointed out.

"Aren’t you too?" She raised her eyebrows.

"But they sort of fear me, remember?" I stated. "While you can still mingle with them."

"I’m not volunteering-"

"Yes, yes, we know that you didn’t volunteer because you wanted hugs from humans." I rolled my eyes as I cut her off. "But can you at least try? You said it yourself, you’re bored because you have nothing to do. Well, you can ease that boredom by talking to the humans…"

Thena turned quiet after that. But then she suddenly said, "I also have a feeling not to get too attached to the humans."

Deep down, she knew huh… "Well, if you trust that feeling, it’s fine. I don’t plan to control you, but just a bit of advice, just try." I continued.

She sighed. "Very well, I will try it once I have the chance."

As we walked down the hallway, we passed the statue of Thena, the one that I made for the Domo. We stopped for a second in front of it.

"I always thought that your statue was my best work to date." I commented.

"Really?" She raised her eyebrows. "But I look nothing like the statue."

I laughed. "I suppose that’s true… but that’s the beauty of sculpting, isn’t it? "

"I don’t get what you’re saying at all." She mused.

I sighed at her words. "Well, let’s continue."

We proceeded to the armory, and quickly put on our armor. After that, we quickly exited the Domo, landing near the Nile River. We’re probably in modern-day Sudan right now.

"The grasslands and Savannah are quite beautiful." Thena commented beside me.

I hummed. "Too bad it will disappear in a few centuries…"

"Our world is always changing." She remarked wisely, huh... "Now, where do we go first?"

"We never thought about where to go first, huh…"

"Your idea of separating is rather spontaneous." She pointed out. "So, of course, we don’t have a plan."

"You sound upset," I stated.

"I talk this way, you should know."

I sighed. Then, I summoned one of my flying constructs and jumped on it. "Let’s go." I offered my hand to Thena so she could climb on the back of the construct.

"And where are you planning to go?" She asked while taking my hand and climbing the back of the construct.

"We’ll scour the coast of the continent first. After that, we'll go to the center."

She raised her eyebrows at my statement. "Why is it the last?"

"No reason." I shrugged. “It’s more efficient… I think.”

She narrowed her eyebrows and said, "Very well, it’s your idea after all."

"You’re the one who’s forcing yourself to follow me…" I said as we took off.

Then, I commanded the construct to fly as low as possible, as we were also searching for signs of Deviants.

"But first..." I stated. "I wanted to see what this green Savannah looked like before it completely became a desert."

"You’re not serious, are you?" She asked, looking a bit annoyed.

"I’m completely serious, Thena. Maybe I found interesting animals here, who knows?"

She sighed. "I’m starting to regret following you..."

"Your own fault." I shrugged as the construct turned in the direction of the savannah.

What I saw is breathtaking, to say the least. It’s an experience to see a ‘green sahara’ like this.

The rolling grassland as far as the eye can see. Shrubs and isolated trees were scattered everywhere. The warm air of the savannah hit through me as we flew as close as possible to the ground. It’s a nice feeling.

Even though I’m saying that it’s a ‘green sahara’, I can see that it has already begun to dry up, which is sad, but I can still see small lakes throughout the grasslands, I can see zebras grazing the pastures of the savannah, I can see giraffes hanging around trees, and I can see a group of lions laying around lazily underneath a tree... Wait, Lions!

"Thena, I think I saw an interesting animal." I stated.

"Which one? The black and white one? Or the one that has a long neck? " She was rather dismissive in her question.

"I was thinking more of the hairy one..."

"That one?" She raised her eyebrows. "What’s interesting about it?"

"It’s a carnivore, I think..." I muttered, then grinned. "Perfect for a construct."

"You’re going to kill that herd of... hairy ones?"

"Hmm.... Now that I think about it... I don’t want to kill them... Let’s just play the waiting game. "

"What do you mean, ‘waiting game’?" She asked in a high voice, sounding like she knew what I meant...

"You know... Wait until one of them is dead of old age or killed by someone else..."

"You’re not serious, are you?" She sighed.

"I’m serious..."

"You know what? I’m just going to go down there, kill them all, and you can do your thing. That way, we can get to killing deviants more quickly. " She stated, ready to jump.

"Wait what? No no no no, I don’t want to hurt animals, Thena. "

"But you wanted their body? Besides, you see humans hunting all the time. What’s the deal? "

"That’s different." I murmured. "Hunting for sport is not good."

"But we’re not hunting for sport? We’re hunting to get you more constructs…"

Now that I think about it, The lions are not endangered yet... But still...

"No Thena, we’ll wait." I stated it seriously, making Thena confused.

"Why?"

"They’ll be extinct if we hunt them too much."

"Are you serious? You fear that they will be extinct? " She asked, annoyed at my logic. "From the looks of it, they are the apex predators around here. Pluto, they won’t be extinct for a long time. And besides, you’re just going to kill a herd of them, not the whole population. "

"Still... look at it..." I pointed at a lion cub playing with his mother’s tail.

When she looks at what I’m pointing at, her gaze softens a bit. What? What is happening right now? Thena’s weakness is children?

She sighed in surrender. "Very well, we’ll wait.

You know what? I won’t even question it anymore; I’ll know it sooner or later. "Thank you for understanding, Thena. Maybe I can search around the savannah for dead li- hairy ones or something."

"You have a name for this animal?" She asked as we flew down near the savannah.

"I was thinking... Lions? "

"Lions huh… do what you want. " She said as she hopped down the construct. "I’m going to gather some materials to build a shelter. We’re going to stay here for a couple of years after all… make sure to not just gather Hai- Lions... gather other animals too. "

I smiled at Thena. "Will do Thena, Will do…"

After that, I flew again, wandering around the savannah, searching for dead animals to absorb...

Chapter 8: The Adventures of Pluto and Thena, 4250 – 3900 BCE (1)

[Sudan, 4200 BCE]

It’s been fifty years since we decided to stay in the Savannah for a while… Yes, I realize that it’s not really productive, but hey, I need some experiment materials.

Speaking of experiments, I’ve made a breakthrough! Even though I can only combine three constructs at once, but I can also combine a combined construct, I feel like I’m a Persona protagonist right now…

I’ve also discovered that Lions are not a good construct… but… Lions/Deviants hybrid construct is, which opened a whole lot of possibilities. After discovering that, I went searching for animal corpses in the Savannah. I found some Cobras, Crocodiles, Hippos, Zebras, and all those animals. And after that, I’ve combined every single combination I could think of… and I got a lot of good shit.

And also, since I’m combining combined constructs, some weird things are happening to those constructs…

You’ll see what I mean soon enough.

For me, it’s been quite a productive 50 years, but for Thena… not so much. Honestly, I feel bad for her for staying with me; she’s been incredibly bored around the shelter we made, aside from the occasional deviant that I detected around us; she’s been idle the whole time, while I’m locking myself up for experiments and rarely talks to her… yeah, I’m a bad friend.

So, I think it’s time to move…

“H-Hey… Thena?” I nervously call her name; she’s inside the shelter right now.

She doesn’t answer.

“R-Right… I think it’s time we move.” I started again.

Still doesn’t answer… fuck, I think she finally broke from the boredom…

But then, she opened the door of the shelter rather harshly, so harshly in fact, that it broke. It looks like she doesn’t care about the shelter anymore…

“Let’s go.” She flatly said, staring at me with those intimidating eyes.

“Y-Yes…” I stuttered, she’s really scary…

After that, I summoned one of my fastest and newest constructs. I named it Apophis.

It’s a Giant Snake Construct (made from combining Snake/Deviant hybrid, Snake/Deviant hybrid, and Snake/Deviant hybrid), and it’s quite fast for a land construct, and also, its head is quite wide, so it’s a good mount.

I commanded the snake to lower its head, so we could climb to it easily. Thena did the same, and instantly sat on top of it.

I said nothing to the goddess of war, not willing to irk her any longer, and commanded Apophis to move towards the south east. We are in Sudan right now, so if we move in this direction, we will arrive in Ethiopia, I think there’s a civilization there… I can’t remember…

As Apophis slither through the dying Savannah, I look at Thena, who’s staring at the scenery solemnly.

I sighed. “Look…” I said. “I’m sorry for being a bit selfish…”

“Selfish?” She finally spoke. “I don’t think it’s selfish at all.”

“You don’t?” I asked, a bit surprised.

“I signed up for it when I asked Ajak to follow you.” She stated. “Though I wish you could talk to me more in these 50 years…”

“Yes, that’s my fault. I’m always consumed by experiments…” I muttered. “Still, I’m sorry for making you sit idly for the past 50 years.”

“Just don’t do it again…” She answered.

“I’ll try not to.” I nodded; I hope I can find a cure once the Mahd W'yry kicked in…

After that, she looked in the direction of Egypt. “I’m curious about the others, to be honest… did they succeed in entering the settlement?”

I chuckled. “Miss them?”

“A bit.” She hummed. “Almost 750 years we’ve been together, and now, we’re separated… it’s a bit of a weird feeling.”

“Who did you miss the most? Gil?” I asked curiously.

“Yes…” she answered weakly. “He’s good company.”

“Good company huh?” I teased, trying to see what’s going on with those two.

She raised her eyebrow, confused at my words. “What are you saying?”

I sighed, perhaps I misunderstood something. “Never mind.”

A couple of hours later, we arrived in modern day Ethiopia, and we discovered a herd of Deviants.

Thena prepared herself for a battle, as am I, but I don’t really have a weapon right now… so I can only watch…

“Can you make me a weapon construct or something?” I asked Thena, hoping that she could do that.

“I’m not like you.” She snorted. “I can’t conjure a weapon construct for you, only for myself.”

I sighed in disappointment. “Well, I tried…”

We’re nearing the nest of the deviants, and Apophis started to slow down, sneaking through the rather humid highland.

“Let’s finish this quickly.” I whispered to Thena. “We’ve done this too many times. I don’t want to drag this.”

“Right…” She mumbled. “With your constructs, it’s probably going to be too easy… now I don’t even know Ikaris could beat you; those new abilities of your constructs are… bizarre…”

I chuckled as we arrived at the nest, around 7 deviants, three winged, two hound deviants, and-

“Is that a horned deviant?” Thena whispered while grinning. “That’s new, I wonder how fun it’ll be?”

“It’s quite humongous.” I answered, grinning like Thena. “And new experiment material is always welcomed.”

“I’ll take the horned deviant.” Thena said. “The rest is up to you.”

“The body is still mine though.”

“Sure, like always.” Before I could say anything, she jumped to the horned deviant; she conjured a spear, and tried to stab the horned deviant’s head. The deviant knows it however, and tries to attack back. The deviant charged at Thena, who was still on air, and the deviant aimed his horns at her, trying to stab her with it. Seeing this, Thena changed position and quickly dropped down to the ground; she dashed to the deviant, and continued to attack it.

Meanwhile, me and Apophis are surrounded by the other deviants. I just smiled at this, and commanded Apophis to attack.

The giant snake slither quickly to one of the winged deviants, and quickly strike to prevent it from flying.

And this is when the fun comes in, Apophis has an ability.

You see, I theorized that because Apophis comes from three combined constructs, it means that the experiences and cosmic energy of those combined constructs came together to form Apophis, so because Apophis comes from three snake/deviant constructs, which means that he has cosmic energy equivalent to three deviants and three Cobras, which is a lot.

And somehow, because of the heightened experience, knowledge, will, and cosmic energy, it makes it that Apophis has an ability.

Which is cosmic energy draining.

When he bites an enemy, he can absorb its cosmic power, slowly making the enemy die, and Apophis will become empowered as well from the looks of it, as his body will slowly get bigger.

Anyway, Apophis slowly absorbs the winged deviant’s cosmic energy, and I can see that the deviant is slowly withering.

I quickly summoned another new construct of mine. I called it Ammit(Hippo/Deviant hybrid, Lion/Deviant hybrid, and Croc/Deviant hybrid).

It has the head of a croc, front legs and paws like a lion, and the back legs of a Hippo, it’s pretty weird, but its ability is something else…

Ammit is quite big, and can easily swallow a dog deviant in one bite.

So, he did just that. He swallowed a dog deviant whole, and finally, I could see its ability in action.

I can see that Ammit’s stomach started to glow golden, and finally, it opened its mouth, and he shot a yellow beam from its mouth, decimating a couple of other deviants.

To simply put, its power is consuming a being, converting it into pure cosmic energy, and shooting it back in the form of a cosmic energy beam.

It’s neat.

Apophis then finished consuming the winged deviant’s cosmic energy, and I can see that the body of the winged deviant has withered completely. I see that Apophis has become longer and slightly larger, probably from absorbing the winged deviant.

After that, the two constructs quickly decimate the rest of the deviants, and only Thena is left to deal with the horned deviant.

I saw that Thena elegantly jumped to the back of the horned deviant. She conjured an axe, and she split the horned deviant’s head open like it was nothing.

It’s pretty badass. I dig it.

“You done?” I asked in amusement, commanding Apophis to get closer to her.

She looked around, seeing what my constructs did. “You know, I always wanted to fight your constructs.”

I hummed. “Maybe next time.”

“Your constructs are always evolving; it’s hard to see how I can deal with it.” She pointed out.

I shrugged. “Apparently, I’m the only one who trained.”

She hopped off from the horned deviant. “It’s your power who is flexible, the rest of us? Not so much.”

She jumped to Apophis once more, and I absorbed the horned deviant, pretty nice catch. “Probably, but I also need to mention that I experimented on it all the time.”

She rolled her eyes. “How could I forget that, it’s not like we stayed 50 years just for that…”

“Wow, Thena being sarcastic? That’s new… Sprite is really rubbing off on you.” I mused.

“No, it’s you who influenced me.” She stated.

“Really? I don’t remember being sarcastic…” I mumbled, and shrugged. “Oh well.”

After that, when we were about to leave the area, Thena suddenly became alert and conjured her weapons.

“What’s wrong?” I questioned. I also noticed that Ammit was looking in a direction, and I turned to that direction, and saw a group of humans carefully closing in on us, with spears and all. They probably saw us fighting the group of deviants.

“A Tribe?” I questioned.

“Possibly.” Thena nodded. “What should we do?”

“You’re the wise one here… you should decide.” I muttered.

“I thought you’re the leader of this mission?” She mused.

“I thought that I’m going on this trip alone.” I refuted with a shrug.

When we were talking, the humans kept walking closer to us, and suddenly, they dropped their spears, and began to… worship us?

“Well, this is rather… interesting…” Thena said in amusement.

I can hear the humans speak their language to us, but really, I can’t understand them.

“You brought a translator when we left?” I asked Thena.

“Of course I didn’t.” she said as if it was the obvious.

I sighed. “What should we do?”

“Why are you asking me?”

“You’re the best fighter of Olympia; surely you must know something about this situation...”

“Fighting is different than talking; this is more of Sersi’s and Ajak’s job…”

Well, fuck.

“So… should we run?” I offered a solution.

[Ethiopia, 4199 BCE]

So… Me and Thena became gods… that’s something.

Turns out, the deviants that we killed had been harassing the tribe that we encountered, and once they saw us defeating them easily, they became really friendly towards us. Too friendly, actually.

"You know, when I decided to come with you on this mission, this wasn’t what I had in mind…" Thena spoke to me slowly.

"Well… this isn’t what I had in mind either…" I murmured.

Right now, we are sitting with the humans that we encountered, and they are offering us food right now.

Thena and I just smiled, not taking the food as they looked thin, probably because their hunting routine was disturbed by the deviants. But it looks like they are afraid of us, probably because of me, having a creepy smile and all…

"So now what?" I asked Thena.

"This is your idea Pluto, I thought you knew what you were doing?"

"Not really…" I murmured. "Stay here again? "

"We just moved." Thena answered with a deadpan expression.

"You’re right…" I sighed. "Let’s give them some food and be done with it."

"And how are you going to give them food?" Thena asked, with an amused face.

"Hunting?" I said rhetorically.

"I thought you didn’t like killing animals."

"For sport." I pointed out. "In this scenario, the animal gets eaten by humans, so it’s okay."

She sighed. "Do whatever you want."

"Well…" I snapped my fingers, and summoned a bunch of dog constructs, frightening the humans around us. I commanded them to spread out, and find food for the tribe.

I turned around again, and saw that the humans were kneeling, worshipping me. They are bowing down to me, like I’m a messiah or a god incarnate.

"Well, this is awkward…" I murmured.

"Enjoying being worshipped?" Thena hummed in amusement.

"To be honest, I assumed you'd be the one who received the most adoration." I said as I helped the humans stand up, but it looks like it made it worse.

"What gives you that idea?" She questioned curiously.

I shrugged. "You’re beautiful, badass, and have weapons for days."

"You think I’m beautiful?" She teased me... Thena is teasing me...

I rolled my eyes at the obvious. "Don’t flatter yourself, you know that your beauty is legendary."

"Is it now?" She asked me back, her face full of amusement. "Are you one of my fans back in Olympia?"

"Well, I wouldn’t say a fan…" I said, there’s no Olympia, so yes, I’m not a fan. "But you are well known."

She just hummed at my statement and kept staring at me with those intimidating eyes. Then she spoke again. "How come you’re not famous?"

"Pardon me?"

"I said, how come you’re not famous back in Olympia? Your power clearly surpassed a lot of people. "

I just smiled and said, "I don’t like being in the spotlight."

"I can see that…" She nodded. "You’re really anti-social, but I like talking with you."

"Really?" I raised my eyebrow.

"Yes, it’s fun teaching you how to fight back then." She continued.

"Well, I’m honored to be taught by Thena herself." Sincerely, I stated.

Then, the dogs that I commanded quickly came back, scaring the humans who had been worshipping us while we were talking, and they put the carcasses of the animals down.

I spot a few zebras as well as some wild buffalo. Nice catch.

I absorbed back the dog constructs, and looked at the humans.

"For you." I said, pointing at the carcasses.

They don’t understand what I’m saying, but my gesture made them understand.

They instantly cheered, and continued to worship us.

"Well, it’s time to go." I said to Thena, helping her stand up.

After that, the humans gathered around the carcasses, carrying them to be skinned, and while they were doing that, me and Thena sneaked out of the Tribe encampment, leaving the place once and for all.

But what they don’t know, is that the tribe will probably worship them from afar, making them god and goddess in the tribe’s eyes. Pluto’s action will be echoed in that tribe, and they will focus their skill in hunting, as they impersonated Pluto’s hunting, who gave them food easily.
